Christian Counselling

Christian Counselling in Victoria, BC

Compassionate, professional counselling that creates space for your Christian faith and values to be meaningfully integrated into the therapeutic process.

What Christian counselling is

Christian counselling at Healing Horizons is professional clinical counselling, delivered by a Registered Clinical Counsellor and held to the same ethical and evidence-informed standard as everything else we offer. The difference is that your faith is treated as part of who you are rather than something to work around.

It is not pastoral care, spiritual direction or a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment. It is therapy - with room for the beliefs, values and commitments that shape how you understand your life.

How faith can be integrated

Faith integration is a spectrum, and you set the point on it. We talk about what you want in your first session, and revisit it whenever you'd like - moving closer in or further out is always available to you.

  1. Understood, without explanation

Your faith stays part of the background - you don't have to translate it, defend it or leave it at the door. Sometimes that is all a client wants.

  2. Values-based reflection

We draw on your beliefs and convictions as a way of understanding what matters to you, what you're weighing, and what a good decision looks like in your own terms.

  3. Explicit faith practice

Where you ask for it, prayer, scripture or faith language can be part of session. This is always at your invitation and never assumed.

What we work on

Individual Christian counselling

Anxiety, low mood, grief, burnout and stress, alongside the questions that often sit underneath them: identity and calling, guilt and shame, purpose, doubt, and how to keep going through a season that hasn't turned out the way you expected.

Christian couples counselling

Communication that keeps breaking down, trust that needs rebuilding, intimacy and closeness, and decisions shaped by shared values - parenting, money, family expectations and the direction of your life together.

Faith and relationship challenges

Partners at different places in their faith, tension with family or church community, changing convictions, and the loneliness that can come when belief becomes something you no longer share in the same way.

Spirituality, identity and life transitions

Moves, career changes, cross-cultural living and returning home, loss of role or community - the moments that ask you to work out who you are again, and where faith fits in that.

Looking for relationship work without a faith focus? See couples therapy or premarital counselling.

Who this may suit

  • You want a counsellor who understands the place faith holds in your life
  • Your decisions and struggles are bound up with your beliefs and values
  • You and your partner want relationship work that takes your shared faith seriously
  • You are wrestling with doubt, change or distance from a faith community

And if it isn't for you

That's completely fine - and it changes nothing about the care you'd receive here. Healing Horizons welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds, faiths and worldviews, and faith is never introduced into therapy unless you want it there.

Every other service we offer is provided without any faith component. If a different approach or a different practitioner would serve you better, we will say so and help you find it.
